SARDAR MANMOHAN SINGH- PRIME MINISTER BY CHANCE

India’s fourteenth Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh is rightly acclaimed as a thinker and a scholar. He is well regarded for his diligence and his academic approach to work, as well as his accessibility and his unassuming demeanour.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was born on September 26, 1932, in a village in the Punjab province of undivided India. Dr. Singh completed his Matriculation examinations from the Punjab University in 1948. His academic career took him from Punjab to the University of Cambridge, UK, where he earned a First Class Honours degree in Economics in 1957. Dr. Singh followed this with a D. Phil in Economics from Nuffield College at Oxford University in 1962. His book, “India's Export Trends and Prospects for Self-Sustained Growth” [Clarendon Press, Oxford, 1964] was an early critique of India's inward-oriented trade policy.
Dr. Singh’s academic credentials were burnished by the years he spent on the faculty of Punjab University and the prestigious Delhi School of Economics. He had a brief stint at the UNCTAD Secretariat as well, during these years. This presaged a subsequent appointment as Secretary General of the South Commission in Geneva between 1987 and 1990.
In 1971, Dr. Singh joined the Government of India as Economic Advisor in the Commerce Ministry. This was soon followed by his appointment as Chief Economic Advisor in the Ministry of Finance in 1972. Among the many Governmental positions that Dr. Singh has occupied are Secretary in the Ministry of Finance; Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission; Governor of the Reserve Bank of India; Advisor of the Prime Minister; and Chairman of the University Grants Commission.
In what was to become the turning point in the economic history of independent India, Dr. Singh spent five years between 1991 and 1996 as India’s Finance Minister. His role in ushering in a comprehensive policy of economic reforms is now recognized worldwide. In the popular view of those years in India, that period is inextricably associated with the persona of Dr. Singh.
Among the many awards and honours conferred upon Dr. Singh in his public career, the most prominent are India’s second highest civilian honour, the Padma Vibhushan (1987); the Jawaharlal Nehru Birth Centenary Award of the Indian Science Congress (1995); the Asia Money Award for Finance Minister of the Year (1993 and 1994); the Euro Money Award for Finance Minister of the Year (1993), the Adam Smith Prize of the University of Cambridge (1956); and the Wright's Prize for Distinguished Performance at St. John's College in Cambridge (1955). Dr. Singh has also been honoured by a number of other associations including the Japanese Nihon Keizai Shimbun. Dr. Singh is a recipient of honorary degrees from many universities including the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford.
Dr. Singh has represented India at many international conferences and in several international organizations. He has led Indian Delegations to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Cyprus (1993) and to the World Conference on Human Rights in Vienna in 1993.
In his political career, Dr. Singh has been a Member of India’s Upper House of Parliament (the Rajya Sabha) since 1991, where he was Leader of the Opposition between 1998 and 2004.
Dr. Singh and his wife Mrs. Gursharan Kaur have three daughters.

BARKHA DATT- QUEEN OF MEDIA

Barkha Dutt (born December 18, 1971) is an Indian TV journalist and the group editor of English news at New Delhi Television.
She is the youngest journalist in India to be awarded the Padma Shri, among the country's highest civilian honours. She has been recognized for her work by many international and local organizations. She has been awarded the Global Leader of Tomorrow Award twice by the World Economic Forum (2001, 2008). She writes a weekly column, Third Eye for the Hindustan Times, as well as a weekly opinion piece for the Khaleej Times. She is the host of the television talk shows, We the People and Buck Stops Here.
She is a nominated member of India's National Integration Council. She was also Asia Society Fellow in 2006 and serves on the International Advisory Council of the Asia Society.
//
Education
Dutt was educated in Delhi and in New York. She studied at Modern School, New Delhi, graduated from St. Stephen's College, Delhi studying English literature; received a master's in Mass Communications from Jamia Millia Islamia; and a master's in journalism from Columbia University, New York. She was one of the winners of the prestigious Inlaks Scholarship, which sends 6 Indians overseas to study every year.
Career
Dutt's reporting of the Kargil conflict in 1999, including an interview with Captain Vikram Batra, brought her to prominence in India. She has since covered conflicts in Kashmir, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq. She won a padma shri for her coverage of the 2004 Tsunami . As a journalist, Dutt began her career at NDTV, a TV production house which used to create news programmes and provide content to Star TV. Later, NDTV created its own independent news and content channels, and Barkha Dutt rose to be its Managing Editor for English News. She is currently Group Editor-English News. She appeals to viewers across a wide spectrum: her recent placing in a poll of Hindi newspaper readers highlights her relevance to audiences beyond the English-speaking minorities in India.
In 2008, another film Mission Istanbul had a character based on Barkha.
Awards
Her work has won her over twenty international and national awards including the Padma Shri Award (Journalism), 2008., Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards 2005-06 and Commonwealth Broadcasters Award for Journalist of the Year.
Her Sunday talk show has won the maximum awards for any show across television channels, winning the Indian Television Academy award for Best Talk Show five years in a row.
In 2008,Barkha Dutt received the Indian News Broadcasting Award for the Most Intelligent News Show Host.
She has also received Society's Young Achievers Award.
Criticism
Her reporting of the Kargil conflict was criticized by The Indian Navy Chief Admiral Sureesh Mehta who insinuated that she may have compromised the security of the troops by giving away locations.Ms Dutt refuted these charges, citing former Army chief Gen VP Malik's book that had proved otherwise. General Malik had been army chief during the Kargil conflict.
Barkha Dutt, according to many publications, was the journalist who came in for the most criticism after the Mumbai Terror Attacks
NDTV issued a legal notice to a blogger Chetan Kunte for "abusive free speech" for a post criticizing their coverage of the Mumbai attacks. The blogger unconditionally withdrew his post, replacing it with legal undertaking and an admission that his post had been "defamatory and untrue" which resulted in several Indian bloggers criticizing NDTV for trying to silence critics

BARKHA DATT- JOURNALIST I ADMIRE

Barkha Dutt (born December 18, 1971) is a popular TV journalist of India . Barkha presently works for NDTV, the biggest news network in India. Her rise in popular Indian awareness is primarily attributed to her coverage of the Kargil War and her continued association with news primarily pertaining to the sensitive issues of Kashmir politics. She is hailed as the “Indian Christiane Amanpour”
Barkha was born in India to S.P. Dutt (called “Speedy” because of his initials and Prabha Dutt (nee Behl). Speedy was an official in Air-India and Prabha was a Chief of Bureau of the Hindustan Times for quite some time. Her childhood days were spent shuttling between New Delhi and New York.
Barkha credits her journalism skills to her mother, Prabha, a pioneer among women journalists in India. Prabha Dutt graduated from the Chandigarh School of Journalism with honours and did her inhouse training with the Hindustan Times, Delhi in 1964.
Prabha Dutt died in 1984, when she was in her prime, due to a brain haemorrhage. At that time Barkha was just thirteen.
Barkha was educated at the Modern School, New Delhi. She then did her Bachelor’s degree in English literature from St. Stephen’s College, New Delhi. After this, she did her Master’s degree in Mass Communication from Jamia Milia Islamia’s Mass Communication Research Center New Delhi.
That was the time NDTV was just about starting and Barkha took up a job with the channel. ” There was no looking back after that,” she saysShe was a 1997 winner of the Inlaks Scholarship, which sends six Indians abroad annually for graduate work. Barkha took two years off from work and got a master’s in journalism from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, New York.
Barkha’s coverage of the 1999 Kargil Conflict gained her much popularity and fame , though she confessed later that she did not perform her journalistic duty during her war reporting [1]. Kargil apart, Barkha has done yeoman work for NDTV. Today, she is the Managing Editor of the Channel. She also hosts the talkshow, We The People on NDTV. She is also anchorperson of the 8 p.m. 60 Minutes and co-anchors “Newshour,” an hour-long analysis and discussion program for STAR TV, the Asian satellite channel. Some of her writings can also be viewed in Outlook magazine’s website.
Her recent coverage of the Tsunami disaster from Nagapattinam won appreciation from viewers and media professionals alike[citation needed]. She is also on the editorial advisory board of cultural online magazine- Cerebration
Barkha and her younger sister, Bahar are said to have got their names from the song, “O sajana barkha bahar aai..”, from the Bollywood film, ‘Parakh’ (1960). The character of ‘Romila Dutta’, in the Bollywood film, Lakshya (2004), enacted by Preity Zinta, is based on Barkha Dutt. Her name is also mentioned(although in a humorous way) by Nana Patekar in the movie Bluffmaster

MILLION TIMES

I have seen you a million times
And every time I see you
I fall in love with you all over again
My heart starts to race
My frown turns into a smile
And all my worries are now in my past
When you smile at me my heart melts
You give the sweetest hugs
Every time you hug me
Your smile is like a new day
Your sense of humor is like no other
The ability you have to make me smile
Is all you need you love me
Your laugh is so soft and sweet
Just looking in your eyes
Makes me melt inside
Your lips look so soft
Soft enough to kiss
You, yourself relive me from all pain
Your hands are as soft as a pillow
The way you comfort me is amazing
Every time we say good-bye
I start to cry
I say good-bye to you too many times
I said good-bye to you a million times
All of my life I've been waiting
for a love to come knocking.
Dwn on my knees I'm praying
that you'll never say you're leaving.
You made my life complete,
you brought the light in my eyes,
you put carresses in my soul,
you sprinkle joys in my heart.
You've always been there for me
with a love so pure and free
giving it unselfishly,
not asking for security.
Now honey,
for you,
I swear
with all my heart
I really care
that my love is forever true'
till the end of time,
I'm in love with you.

ALL I CAN GIVE

There are so many words I cannot say,
when I look into your eyes.
I want to be able to tell you one day,
but I'm left speechless every time that I try.

You must have stumbled across the key,
and discovered so much more.
You found a hidden place in me,
you found my heart and opened the door.
And I cried in pain of losing my dear friend.

Will it ever be the same again?
If it passes will it be the end?
I realized it was worth so much,
as I lie in bed that night.
So I allowed my soul to be touched,
without even putting up a fight.
Are my eyes deceiving me,
when I see you standing there?
Are you playing games,
just to prove I care?

You speak my name in a prelude,
in a reference to love,
with such loving attitude,
as if it were a message from above.
With the palms of your hands
pressed firmly against mine,
a white doves lands,
and the sun begins to shine.

Someday I will see,
though that day has not come yet.
You'll say you love me,
but will you ever forget?
If that happens and my spirit dies,
if my emotions drop,
will you want to hold me when I cry?
Or will the love just suddenly stop?
We can't expect to fall in love and never cry.
You'll stay and play your part,
but after the beauty starts to die,
will your footprints still be on my heart?
Though it would be hard to say goodbye,
your friend I'll always be,
as long as we always try,
to keep the friendship between you and me.

The letter I will not send will casually inquire,
how could you have brought it to an end?
I was your one desire.
After this life is over,
you'll be one person I know I'll miss.

It'll be too late to start over,
and so I leave you with this...
I'll hold you for a lifetime,
if you'll just hold my hand.
We could have a wonderful time,
in the days we have not yet planned.

You're the first thing I think of
Each morning when I rise.
You're the last thing I think of
Each night when I close my eyes.

You're in each thought
I have And every breath I take.
My feelings are growing stronger
With every move I make.
I want to prove I love you
But that's the hardest part.
So, I'm giving all I have to give
To you... I give my heart.

MY GIFT- MY LOVE

My gift to you is my love
Given from deep within my heart
It is the best I have to offer
And its yours until this earth we depart

You have captured a part of me
A part so very fragile that I am in fear
For it is my heart I have lost
To you my love, the one I hold most dear

I chose to love you now
With all that I have and all that I am
And I pray that God follows us
To guide our steps as we cross this land

For it is with His blessings
We will live most at peace with each other
For He is the reason after all
We found one another ........ I Love You!

MY GIRL - WHO CHANGED MY LIFE

You changed my world with a blink of an eye
That is something that I can not deny
You put my soul from worst to best
That is why I treasure you my dearest Marites
You just don't know what you have done for me
You even pushed me to the best that I can be
You really are an angel sent from above
To take care of me and shower with love
When I'm with you I will not cry even a single a tear
And your touch have chased away all of my fear
You have given me a life that I could live worthwhile
It is even better everytime you smile

It so magical those things you've made
To bring back my faith that almost fade
Now my life is a dream come true
It all began when I was loved by you

Now I have found what I am looking for
It's you and your love and nothing more
Co'z you have given me this feeling of contentment
In my life something I've never felt
I wish I could talk 'til the end of day
But now I'm running out of things to say
So I'll end by the line you already know
"I LOVE YOU" more than what I could show

A BETTER TOMORROW

I never knew there would be a better tomorrow
But you've come into my life and taken away all my sorrow
My days of sadness are a thing of the past
Because I have found true love at last
My days of emptiness are gone for good
Because you fill a void in my heart that you should
You've opened a window
You've shown me the light
And my love for you will continue to burn bright.

MY GAL WHOM I MISS

no matter what I do,

no matter what I say,

no matter how I feel,

I know we'll be together someday.

You've been pulled away from me,

so I helped to push you back,

now I know what I lack.

I miss your arms around me,

and when I used to giggle.

I miss you touching me,

that always made me wiggle.

I know we'll be together someday,

I know fate will have it's way.

It’s our destiny.

MY LOVE, MY SOUL.

My love for you is as cool as the blue ocean
as we walked through the waves with love and devotion
my love for you is not as complex as maths
it’s not just your face or the great body
it’s your personality that shines to me
it's your heart that beats for me
it's your soul that is so pure
being with you shows what love can be
I look at the picture that you sent me
knowing your waiting makes me happy
all the times we’ve spent together
I just hope the good times can last forever and ever
I never want anyone to tear us apart
a piece of you will always be in my heart…

BE MINE

the smile that cleanses my soul
the eyes that stop time with a single glance
the touch of love from his hands
I’ve been waiting for this day
this special time
all I can do is prayfor you to be my Valentine.
